Remember the line???
"You don't want to be in love in real life. You wanna be in love in a movie"
Ok...be prepared for a slightly girly moment. A slightly silly moment.
But hey...isn't that what this blog is all about???
I wanna be in love!
I want to have those crazy romantic moments that are the bread and butter of my favorite rom-coms
I want a guy to say he wants to marry me just so he can kiss me anytime he wants
I want a guy to write me a song
I want a guy to chase me around Ireland
Or make me a telescope
Dance with me in the middle of the street
Write me letters from a far away land
Run around a city looking for me
To grab me and kiss the crap out of me
Save me from some dangerous event
Kiss me in the rain
Build me a garden on my rooftop
Fly across the world, quit their job just to be with me
Teach me to do something new and find me so cute when I totally mess it up
Have fireworks and fountains go off at just the most opportune moment
Run through heavy traffic...in a thunderstorm
Be distraught when I don't call and then show up to give me a pen
Meet me at the top of the Empire State Building
But COME ON!!!! That DOESN'T happen!!!
I know we all want it to. And wouldn't it be nice if it did?
But lets be realistic ladies and germs.
They are movies for a reason....because they don't happen in real life.
And I'm almost glad for that. Cause if a guy told me he was bewitched by me body and soul...I don't think I would be amused. I think I would be moderately FREAKED!
So lets will leave the cheesy romanticness to the movies..where it somehow seems less cheesy.
And I will just pine away...wishing I was in one :)
Wanna waste almost 9 minutes being girly???
might I suggest...
dear giggly girly fluttery stomach...this is so pathetic!!!
Oh if only I was in movies!!!!
Now to calm down your pitter-pattering heart....lets remind you of reality :)
Today is one of those on my own days.
This morning I man-ed a station of a 5K...my only company being the runners who went past quickly.
And my roommate's been gone most of the day, and I don't have any firm plans with anyone this evening.
So my Cardinals kept me company earlier....and now William Elizabeth and Jack have taken over.
Add to that a cozy blanket...a paper that I just have to crunch out...and an AWESOME thunderstorm?
Not a terrible afternoon for sure!
So what is on tap for tonight?
Maybe a trip to the mall. Maybe a nice face mask. I haven't deep conditioned my hair in a while.
And my feet need some serious TLC.
Add to that a nice bowl of popcorn, a redbox movie, a chocolate milkshake and an early bedtime ....I'm gonna be one happy girl tonight!!!
What are you up to this weekend? Is it a chill one for you too??
I apologize for my pity party post yesterday.
There was a lot of negative swamping going on...and I just needed to write to be more resilient.
(WAHOO FOR DR NELSON'S 490 CLASS!!!!! hehe SHOUT OUT!)
But today is a bit more upbeat :)
Countdown excitement......
14 days
63 days
89 days
It is finally supposed to rain! My car is so dirty from my little trip on a dusty country road last weekend..and seriously needs some washing!!!!
Only 3 tests and 3 papers stand in the way of the end of this semester. And none of them are that hard or that concerning. Just gotta PUNCH EM OUT!!!!!
I get to see 3 of my favorite people tomorrow morning!
You ever seen the movie Inception? You know how they have a totem to keep them focused and present.
Well my family is my totem. And I need to realign and refocus a bit. So happy they are coming up...even if it is just for a few minutes!
I have NO classes and NO clinicals next week. Its all about free time!!!! This semester other than those tests and papers is DONE!!!!!
The town hall meeting I participated in last night went VERY well :)
If you haven't noticed, I've been a little more absent on my blog lately. Its because I don't like being silly and girly or super stressed or bummed on my blog.
I know its kinda backwards...but I don't want to have a whiny blog.
Ranting about bad things is different then being bummed about them.
Ranting=anger=emotion that is accessible
Bummed=sad=difficult emotion to access
So now I will do my best to say what I want to say...and not be moody. Or whiny. Or too pathetic. Or too overly sentimental/romantic/dreamy/unrealistic
READY OK!
Life is rough sometimes.
Sometimes you have so much going on things fall through the cracks.
Sometimes you are scared out of your mind.
Sometimes you can't get yourself motivated
Sometimes people are mean
Sometimes people let you down
Sometimes your sink leaks, your apartment is too hot...or too cold and you have what appears to be an infestation of silver fish
Sometimes the check engine light comes on
Sometimes you break your favorite headband and 30 seconds later your favorite clip
Sometimes you get a paper cut that hurts for days
Sometimes you spend hours on a project that won't even be graded
Sometimes you hate your job
Sometimes you are tired...and you have a headache
Sometimes you are feel alone...completely on your own.
Sometimes it seems like nothing can go right.
That you can't catch a break.
Here's the part where I would normally say...and then it gets better.
But sometimes it doesn't.
And then you feel bad cause you should have more faith.
And if you just believed it would all go away.
I feel like this is kind of a pity party.
But please don't take it as that.
Please take it as an outstretched hand.
You feel like this too sometimes....its ok.
We'll pull through...someday
Cause maybe I don't have enough faith to make the fear and heartache go away.
But I do have enough to know that it will go away eventually.
And until then I will call my mom, curl up under my covers, listen to my book on tape, and fall asleep...to hopefully wake up to a day not as bad as the past several weeks
cause it prolly wont...
enjoy this honest...but not melancholy song :) And feel better bloggy friends!
dear enigma
You are "gone" Congrats. Here's hoping I find someone just like you.
love
stephanie
dear misters know it all
You don't know. None of you do. Until you walk the "perky nurse walk" because you have to get somewhere quickly but not cause alarm. Until you stay up all night studying or writing care plans. Until you have come home crying because your patient touched your heart. Until you come home crying because you are so tired and so hungry. You will never understand...

dear boy in my dream
In any other situation it wouldn't be that weird...or that unwelcomed. Ok so maybe it would still be a little weird. We were taking engagement pictures in this dream...and that would be weird with anyone. But maybe not nearly as unwelcomed as it is due to the current situation.

I never have had this kind of experience yet. It's kind of no fun.
I hope you come back.

My head is so full of so many thoughts today that I can't even begin to start writing them all down. My head is so full it literally hurts!
So I'm just going to talk..until it stops hurting????
Its been 5 years since we lost an amazing spirit from this earth. My heart and mind are with his family. His death was so tragic and I hope that they have found some peace these past several years.
Again...I don't know exactly what to say. But I do know this. He is with his loving Father. He is safe, he is at peace. He is not in pain. He is being taken care of...better than we could here.
One year ago today, I was in a park in Provo...beginning to understand what leaving that life, the world I had made for myself, really meant.
Thinking back to that time, I had know idea what was about to happen. Where my life was going to take me. Not much different from now! Who knows where I will end up. Who knows what will happen.
And maybe that is what I am feeling. The unexpected and the unknown are so frightening. Life and love can be ripped from us at any time. We have no way of knowing.
And its frightening. I know there is a plan. I know that I will be guided and led in exactly the direction I am to go. There is a Plan...He knows it. If only He would share! Let me in on the secret please!!!???
And goodbye to these awesome fun kids from my major
I was scared about going to a brand new school...moving to a brand new place.
I was bittersweet about leaving a guy I was falling for.
I was stepping out on my own to follow my dream.
And now I'm here....98 days from getting that dream
Still have no idea where I will go.
I have learned so much. I have grown so much.
I have learned a lot about myself...both what I am good at and what I am not so good at.
I've gotten really good at relying on the Lord...and learning to deal with things myself too.
I have learned to be a little extroverted..weird news to everyone I'm sure
I still have lots to learn. There is so much about being a nurse that I don't know.
So much about myself that I have NO CLUE about!
I still want to do lots of learning and growing in the Gospel.
I still have tons to learn about people...and how to treat and act around them.
But I'm learning. And I have time
This time last year...this was not the "place" I expected to be.
Wonder where we will be this time NEXT year!
Can't wait to see :)
PS.... CONGRATS TO ALL THE COUGARS OF 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome to the real world! hahaha
And take it from me...if you can go back for more school...DO IT!!!
Avoid being a grownup as long as you can hahaha (within reason...don go craazy hehe)
My blog has taken a serious Mormon turn lately.
I feel like I should say sorry...but I'm not at all apologetic!
I love to share what I believe.
Have you ever had something really great that you can't help but share?
A great slice of chocolate cake.
A funny joke, crazy fact, or cool story.
You share it.
What I have has given me great peace and comfort in my life.
I can't help but share it...
Elder Jeffrey R Holland once said:
"This morning President Hinckley movingly reminded us that this is the 150th anniversary of those handcart companies that, as general conference was convening in October of 1856 here in the Salt Lake Valley, were staggering through the last freezing miles of Nebraska and were soon to be stranded in the impassable snows of the high country of Wyoming. He quoted to us President Brigham Young’s inspiring general conference message to the Saints, simply “go and bring in those people now on the plains.”
As surely as the rescue of those in need was the general conference theme of October 1856, so too is it the theme of this conference and last conference and the one to come next spring. It may not be blizzards and frozen-earth burials that we face this conference, but the needy are still out there—the poor and the weary, the discouraged and downhearted, those “[falling] away into [the] forbidden paths” we mentioned earlier, and multitudes who are “kept from the truth because they know not where to find it.” They are all out there with feeble knees, hands that hang down, and bad weather setting in. They can be rescued only by those who have more and know more and can help more. And don’t worry about asking, “Where are they?” They are everywhere, on our right hand and on our left, in our neighborhoods and in the workplace, in every community and county and nation of this world. Take your team and wagon; load it with your love, your testimony, and a spiritual sack of flour; then drive in any direction. The Lord will lead you to those in need if you will but embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ that has been taught in this conference. Open your heart and your hand to those trapped in the twenty-first century’s equivalent of Martin’s Cove and Devil’s Gate. In doing so we honor the Master’s repeated plea on behalf of lost sheep and lost coins and lost souls."
I hid it and a bunch of pictures months ago.
Cause I didn't want to see it.
Then I found it.
And I started listening to it.
Its a good cd...but here is the thing..its kind of a downer.
Every song has meaning. Every song has a story.
Each song makes me think of why he put it on the CD
Its a lot of memories. All of them good.
But kinda depressing....pathetic I know
Even though now looking back, I'm glad there wasn't an
"Our Story Chapter 2"
I'm kinda bummed I can never get past chapter 1.
(actually rewind..and revise...
usually I can hardly get past the foreword/preface/opening the dang book!)
I just hope I can get to chapter 2 someday.
I really enjoyed our time together and I miss that.
Not with him (good grief NO!)...just with anyone.
(and by anyone I mean anyone great and awesome haha)
Who knows what is in store for me...but hopefully it will be great. And I will find greatness again.
Alright so seriously not a huge Twitter fan....I already tell everyone too much of my business on my blog...they don't need to hear what I have to say every minute of every day. Also when I get on my computer I check 2 emails, my facebook, my blog stats, the blogs I follow AND my pinterest. Seriously ladies and gents...that is just too much! I can't get into Twitter too!
Plus....I am not a bird. I do not "tweet"
But yesterday many things about twitter were explained to me..and I feel like the only way to describe the best parts of this weekend (other than the temple and call me maybe).
so..... here we go...best tweets of the day!
oh my gosh they are videoing us! Well lets give them a show! We are gonna go viral! #dancinginthecartopartyrockin

so apparently I am the north pole to their south poles #magneticpersonality???
so this weekend I went to KC right?
so..we planned to have bbq with some of the YSAs out there.
On the car ride out...this song came on.
And it was decided that I needed to have a call me maybe moment.
One (or more I suppose) "lucky" boy in KC was gonna get my number.
Mostly it was just a challenge to give the trip a little bit of excitement.
Usually combined YSA activities can get a little bit interesting..and we wanted some adventure.
So we/I had our/my plan. We get there...there are like 3 people from KC. One is a good prospect (meaning I felt ok giving him my number...not that I planned on using the recently built temple right up the road!) but he is very busy and I am VERY hungry...so I start chowing down and ignore the boys.
I mean really food before boys...ALWAYS!
Still very few boys are there at all..let alone possibilities. And nothing really goes anywhere with the first one.
But then...new boys appear. Although I wasn't really thinking of Carly's challenge at this point. I figured the trip was a bust and I would just have to scrap it.
I'm not really feeling the kickball game..so I am taking pictures. I get into a conversation with a girl from our group and a guy from KC. It soon turns into just me and the KC boy. We talked for prolly a good 15-20 minutes. But I wasn't even thinking numbers.
But as we were getting ready to leave...my car mates reminded me of Carly's challenge and told me to be brave.
So I did. He was a cool kid. And what was the harm in a little number exchange ;)
Hey! I just met you...and this is crazy.
But here's my number. So call me maybe!
Can I please tell you how amazing my weekend has been? You guys are gonna get an awesome three post day..cause I have three very important things to talk about!
First I had the amazing pleasure and honor to attend the open house of the Kansas City Missouri Temple.
For those of you who did not know, when our church builds a new temple, the building is open to the public for a few weeks before it is dedicated (then only worthy church members may enter).
I felt so blessed to be able to enter this beautiful building. We went through at a time when (according to the tour guides) there were more people going on tours than there had been at any other time so far. And yet it was still quiet and peaceful. You would think a couple hundred people would make more noise...but nope! The weather held off too...so that was really nice.
Feel free to listen as we walk through (I'll explain later why I picked this song)
First lets start in the baptistery. This is an area where worthy members as young as 12 are able to be baptized as proxies for those who have died without an opportunity to be baptized. This gives them an opportunity to accept this essential saving ordinance.
Many times we are able to be baptized for our own personal ancestors...what an amazing experience!
As we move upstairs we come to these two instruction rooms. Here members of the church learn about the Plan of Happiness that our loving Heavenly Father created for us. We learn about and make covenants or promises to follow the commandments as well as live Christ-like lives of purity, honesty and service.
I just have to say as a side note...this picture does not do justice to the beauty of the mural in this first room. It was truly magnificent. The artwork in the temple is all beautiful. Much of it is centered around Christ, but many landscapes are also displayed. These paintings, in my humble opinion are particularly breathtaking.
Here we are in the Celestial room. This is the "ultimate" room of the temple. When we entered this room no one spoke, not even our tour guide. It is by far the most beautiful room in the temple. It is symbolic of the Celestial Kingdom (hence its name haha) This room is astoundingly gorgeous. Ornate almost seems like the wrong word, because that makes it sound almost gaudy. But it is truly elegant and breathtaking.
Alright,..here is another awesomely important room in the temple. the sealing room. In our church we believe that families can be together forever despite the short separation brought on by death. This is the room where that can take place. Not only are husbands and wives sealed together, but children are also sealed to their parents. In my opinion this is the happiest room in the whole temple!
Now at one point during our tour, we got an extra special treat. We were led through the temple by a dear couple from Kansas. When the wife of the couple realized that we had a little extra time, two young single adult sisters and three young girls in our group she took the sisters on a special trip to this room.....
This is the bride's room. And oh my gosh...please excuse the reenactment of the MAJOR girly moment that occurred in my head.
"OH MY GOSH!!! OH MY GOSH!!!! THIS IS SO PRETTY. Its like glowing! Its so shiny and gorgeous I can;t stop smiling...I think I am glowing. Its rubbing off on me! OH MY GOSH!!! Oh look at the mirror...Stephanie stop picturing yourself in a wedding dress in that mirror!!!"
Seriously it was beautiful!!!!
Last thing I want to talk about is the decor. I know that sounds kind of crazy but it was so lovely, and so perfect. See in the picture of the recommend desk the stained glass olive tree??
This is where the song comes in. Throughout the temple, in flower arrangements, on carpets, in gold leafing on ceilings walls, the iron railings, in chandeliers and even in the windows...
there were images of olive branches. The main color scheme was a lovely green..kind of in between a sage and an olive green, cream and gold. It all tied back to that olive branch.
My friend and I wondered what the symbolism of that was...and came up with two possibilities.
1. The olive branch symbolizes peace and truce. Members of the church have a long past of persecution and contention with the citizens of the Kansas City area. However, this symbol of the olive tree shows that these problems are all in the past and that this temple is an offering to the community of friendship and cooperation.
2. In Jacob (a book in the Boo of Mormon) there is an allegory about an Olive Tree that teaches about the gathering of the House of Israel. We believe that this will happen in a place very close to Kansas City called Adam-ondi-Ahman. This is another possible source of symbolism.
So that is the end of our tour. Magnificent building right?
I know that peace can be found there. I know it is a House of the Lord. A place where the Lord and His Spirit can dwell. I know it is a place where we can make special covenants and perform sacred ordinances for our kindred dead to allow them to progress towards salvation..
I'm so so grateful for this opportunity I was able to have.
I haven't been paying lots of attention to my poor little blog..or my poor little bloggy friends :(
First...shout out to Marissa! She found me..and followed LOVE!!
Also my Tessa-bear has finally followed too ;) LOVE LOVE!
Second...school is nuts...life is nuts...but despite it...lots of good things have happened.
But not necessarily directly to me......allow me to explain.
I am a firm believer in Tender Mercies.....(might I suggest reading thistalk??)
Now I don't want to say that I haven't had any tender mercies lately...cause I have! But lately I have noticed them in other's lives and that has been even more of a strength.
One quick example....one of my now good friends moved into my branch just a couple of months ago...at a time when I was feeling particularly low.
We were going on a temple trip that weekend..and when she came in I turned to her and SAID "We should ride in the same car...cause I don't know you yet"
BUT
what I MEANT was
"Please ride with me cause I am in serious need of a new friend..and you appear normal and sane, lets give it a try!"
She responded something like "Yeah ok"
But the other night I discovered what she was REALLY saying "Oh thank goodness! I know no one here...this is super awkward..I need a friend!"
Looks like the man upstairs decided to kill two birds with one stone with this one :)
Cause now we are besties! And I'm SOO SOO glad!!!!
Try to look for how the Lord is using you to be a tender mercy in someone else's life.
Its pretty cool :)
Dear Tender Mercy
You could not have entered my life at a more perfect time! I needed you and I am so glad we are here together now! You are such an example to me and are always there for me. I LOVE YOU!!!

This generation's Backstreet Boys.................
(this one is their famous one.)
Thanks to my Loo-Loo for introducing me to 1D...at first I rolled my eyes.
Then I "scratched my scalp" (if you catch that reference you win MUCHO brownie points)
And now I bob my head and listen to my playlist of all the songs she told me were good :)
always listen to an acoustic version when you discover a new band. Then you can tell how good they really are!
Also what makes me happy...
we all know I LOVE the Jo-Bros
But do you know what???
These guys..........
He is green...the baby brother of my parent's mini van basically.
Not the most ideal but he makes up for it in other ways....
Like with his sunroof. Honestly I can deal with anything if I have a sunroof.
(although upon further research, I discovered it is a moonroof...however the debate is on going about the difference. Wikipedia does not provide adequate information in this regard...don't even get me started ;) )
Of course now comes insurance and gas and maintenance and plates and registration and inspections and and and and and and and and and and and and and and..........but we'll work it out.
Lets hope this little puppy and I have lots of adventures for the next 5/6 years!
PS...to all those who saw my FB update....I didn't really lie.
Its Wednesday...that means its DEAR BOYS TIME!!!!!!!!!!

LINKY PARTY TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Check out Elise's blog!
I am cranky...maybe its cause I'm tired....maybe its cause I'm hungry.... maybe its cause I'm a girl and therefore constantly hormonal.
Or maybe it is because sometimes people in my life drive me crazy.
They aren't always kind. They aren't always supportive.
They often just make me crazy.
So let me share a few things I would like to say.
here is a song to provide some background music.....
and don't judge ;)
Yes this song came up on my shuffle while I was writing this post :D
(my smiles and winks are not helping to share my cranky mood...trust me I AM! Just maybe not quite blood thirsty yet.)
Ok...so I had an entire blog that was dedicated to a song of the day (think of a 365 day blog of photos...but with songs instead)
And I still fall into it all the time (even though the 365 days is over)...a song will just come on and it seems to fit the day PERFECTLY!!!
Or even worse...the song fits a situation I have experienced PERFECTLY!!!
Its funny. A soundtrack to my life could be very accurate....both good and terrible songs.
Crazy how song writers seem to take my life and put it into songs.
But maybe I am just being way to ego-centric, and over applying the meanings of songs....
but for now, here is the most recent addition to my soundtrack.
it doesn't fit RIGHT now...but it fills a perfect hole.
This song has been covered a million times....I've already shown you the Walk off the Earth version.
so this time its Pentatonix....NO INSTRUMENTS...AMAHZING
But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough
No you didn't have to stoop so low
....I guess that I don't need that though
Cause now you're just somebody that I used to know
Moody and emo, I know. But when you are hurt, don't you deserve a moment or two of emo???
The song does resolve pretty well though....just walking away you are somebody I used to know.
So I know I should be writing about Conference...and I will but first...
During the only full summer I spent in Utah, I was blessed to be in a very ACTIVE ward. There was something EVERY night, every afternoon...and some mornings. Weekends were JAM PACKED! Several members of the ward organized themselves into an activities committee of sorts. We had an official ward activities committee of course but we also had an unofficial one.
The RAC...Rogue Activities Committee.
We carried some of that gusto onto the fall. Of course it was limited with school being back in session. But we had lots of weekend plans. I began to be pulled into the RAC and thoroughly enjoyed it. Particularly because I was leaving that next summer and wanted to really make the most of the time I had left.
So with that all being said and adding in the fact that this being my last full summer in Missouri (for a while at least, if not forever) as well as my last summer not as a real adult, I want to make the most of it and again re-instate my position on the RAC.
SO... I have (hopefully) a few peek in readers today from my branch..here is a bucket list for this summer I would like to do...and would love for you to join in!!
-trip to the St Louis Zoo
-St Louis Cardinals game
-explore Rock Bridge State Park
-day trip to Chicago (this is tentatively set for June 29th when one of my fave boys ever will be there...so if you wanna tag along...or we could do 2 trips)
-Art in the Park
-Picnic on the Missouri River...out Hartsburg way...and St Charles way too
-MUNY!!! There are SOOOOO many good shows this year
-Hang out for the day in Forest Park--there are a million and a half things to do...and lots of it is FREE!
-trip to the lake..don't care which one...I'm not picky!
-Stargazing :)
-Camping trip?? at least a bonfire out in no-where with lots of smore fixins
-Pool time...like EVERY EVERY DAY!!!!!!!
-free concerts...they are around. lets find them and go...even if we have NEVER heard of the band
-water fight....like hard core my friends!
-if we can figure out some way to do a slip-n-slide I will be one very happy camper!
-go to some random place with sidewalk chalk and create a master piece/friendly messages
-tie dye party...socks, pants, shirts...dresses....hmmmmmmm
-popsicles...don't care how or where..but we used to buy Otter Pops in bulk and bring them EVERYWHERE!
-Play on every playground in Columbia
-finger painting....enough said
-Make a drive-in movie...wall of the institute maybe???
-fireworks...I would prefer to just watch them cause actual fireworks scare me..and pretty sure they are illegal in CoMO so.....
So that is my list....if you think of any more...Comment below!!!!!!
