S: "Thats weird....what are you a whale???" L: "Ooo! I speak whale!"
S: "What is he 4 years old?" L: "No he is 18!"
And that is just todays!
My family has always been a questioning family. We always like to understand things...and share small tidbits of knowledge we have come across.
With the advent of Google and even more with laptops this 'thirst' for knowledge has gotten almost out of control!
In the past few days, we have learned about each of the different events in rowing...(there are 14 btw)
What the difference is between sculls and coxless and lightweight...
There are 8 events in diving...
The Olympics no longer have a "plunge for distance" event because it was "dangerous? No...it was LAME!"
We pretty much are wikipedia experts on beach and indoor volleyball
And we have learned that water polo has a lot of rules....and will take a little longer for us to truly understand!
So basically the Olympics at the Willyerd home REQUIRES google/wikipedia and is a HIGHLY educational experience ;)
Alright-so to anyone paying attention....we have had a little change here in Swilly world.
And by A little change...I mean a WHOLE LOT of little changes....that create one BIG change!
First off---new format and theme and design.
I liked the letter theme....but it was just getting a little too restrictive.
And I was bored and not a big fan of my old design...so yeah, we made a change :)
Second off---GRADUATION!!!!!!! No more nursing school! Which let me just say is a HUGE change! Which leads to all the other changes:
I'm currently unemployed.
I'm currently living with my parents.
So I am in the worst place you could possibly be. Not my parents house....I actually don't mind living at home...
The place I'm in is "In-Between Land" I'm in-between school and working. I'm in constant transition.
Not sure how long I will be where I am. Not really sure where I will be in the next month or so.
Everyone at church (who have known me for 15 years and therefore have a little interest in my life) wants to know what my plans are.
Me, a girl who in this type of situation always has a plan, doesn't have a plan.
I have hopes.....but they are just that.
There is nothing to them yet.
So I am waiting in the land of in-between.
If only I knew how long I would be here...that way I could use my waiting time much more effectively!
Its a weird feeling knowing that I will never (likely, I suppose I should not use superlatives...ps remind me to post about superlatives) work at a library again.
My story with libraries began over 25 years ago.
My mother graduated from BYU (GO COUGARS!!) with a Master's degree in Library Sciences. A few years down the road she had me. She took me to libraries and book mobiles and story times my whole life.
Fast forward to my older sisters senior year of high school.
She wanted very much to be a library aid (easy class yahoo senioritis). The librarians were skeptical, but when they found out this seemingly nice and responsible high school student had a librarian for a mother-they warmed up to the idea.
They loved her as expected...which led to my ability to get a library aid spot there my senior year.
Fast forward another few years. I've applied for a cataloging job at the Harold B Lee Library at BYU. The fact that I had previous library experience and even more my mother's graduation from a program run by their very library---got me the job. Which got me my next 2 library jobs.
But I left BYU and thought I was leaving my library work and all the cataloging knowledge that I had crammed in my brain with everything else I learned out there!
BUT Alas libraries were not done with me! They wanted me for life!
I applied for another cataloging position at Ellis Library at Mizzou. And according to my boss-once they found out I had experience, I basically only got an interview to make sure I wasn't crazy and the job was mine!
So thanks mom for supplying me with 3 years of pay-checks and padding for my resume :)
I was chatting with my boss' boss on my last day that it would be weird to never work in library again after over 3 years. She warned me not to say never. Cause who knows---I may end up in a health sciences/medical library someday.
I guess they are right-never say never. But honestly I don't really see it....But I guess who knows!
Only time will tell
Now I can't leave my last post without telling the other half of the story.
The song I used makes it seem like my whole time here has been terrible but thank goodness I learned from it.
But that isn't the whole story.
Yes I have had some rough times..but I have had some great times too.
Some really really great times.
These good times make me think of this song...either one works. Enjoy as you look through my awesome moments these past 15 months :)
Mini-Golf Double Date with Jake Aaron and Tamara

And finally---the wedding of two of my besties :)
Thanks to all the awesome people I met in Columbia. The happy memories made the hard parts a little easier!!!!!!! :D
Be Happy...Be Healthy
I have been in the city of Columbia for 15 months---May 2011 to July 2012
I think I would be disappointed if I hadn't learned a lot of lessons in that amount of time. It would be a little too stagnant for my liking.
It has been a roller coaster of emotions.
And this song is the best thing I can think of to share the feelings I have about these past 15 months.
I probably should write my own feelings...but why reinvent such a well built wheel?
There's some things that I regret, Some words I wish had gone unsaid, Some starts, That had some bitter endings, Been some bad times I've been through, Damage I cannot undo, Some things, I wish I could do all all over again, But it don't really matter, Life gets that much harder, It makes you that much stronger, Oh, some pages turned, Some bridges burned, But there were, Lessons learned.
And every tear that had to fall from my eyes, Everyday I wondered how I'd get through the night, Every change, life has thrown me, I'm thankful, for every break in my heart, I'm grateful, for every scar, Some pages turned, Some bridges burned, But there were lessons learned.
There's mistakes that I have made, Some chances I just threw away, Some roads, I never should've taken, Been some signs I didn't see, Hearts that I hurt needlessly, Some wounds, That I wish I could have one more chance to mend, But it don't make no difference, The past can't be rewritten, You get the life you're given, Oh, some pages turned, Some bridges burned, But there were, Lessons learned.
And every tear that had to fall from my eyes, Everyday I wondered how I'd get through the night, Every change, life has thrown me, I'm thankful, for every break in my heart, I'm grateful, for every scar, Some pages turned, Some bridges burned, But there were lessons learned.
And all the things that break you, Are all the things that make you strong, You can't change the past, Cause it's gone, And you just gotta move on, Because it's all, Lessons learned.
And every tear that had to fall from my eyes,
Everyday I wondered how I'd get through the night, Every change, life has thrown me, I'm thankful, for every break in my heart, I'm grateful, for every scar, Some pages turned, Some bridges burned, But there were lessons learned, Oh, some pages turned, Some bridges burned, But there were lessons learned, Lessons learnedBe Happy...Be Healthy
A few changes in format and design for us.....
I was bored.....so it was either change my blog....dye/cut my hair (which I really need to stop doing)....or find me a boyfriend (YEAH RIGHT!)
So I changed my blog.
I was bored with the format too...it was just too restrictive
(Be prepared for an epic DUMPING of blog posts! I HAVE TIME!!!!!!! WAHOO!!!!)
I have never been very good at goodbyes. People prolly wouldn't be able to tell. I rarely cry.
Leaving my person last April-she cried...I didn't.
Leaving my at the time boyfriend last May-he cried (yeah story for another day haha) I didn't
Some might say that means I am not as sad as they are. Especially since I am such a crier in general!
But I've come to realize that goodbyes are a different sad for me. They aren't a tear-jerking, sad, frustrated, tired sort of deal.
They are heartbreaking gut-wrenching sad. And that just doesn't get me to cry. It gets me to listen to sad music and be depressed for the next 2 weeks
hahahaha
School being done means goodbye to a group of 50ish people who I am used to seeing almost daily.
It means saying goodbye to awesome nurses and staff members on my clinical floor.
Goodbyes also go out to the group of catalogers who I work with.
And not only are there all the student/university endings-but also the leaving Columbia endings.
I have had to say goodbyes to my new ward members-the ladies in Relief Society who so kindly and gently took me under their wing and nursed me back to health again.
And I am saying goodbye to YSA branch members too! They have provided me with the majority of my happy moments here in Columbia--hard to say goodbye to that for sure!
So all in all. I hate goodbyes. I feel like crying....but I don't.
And so I listen to sad music.
But ready for the Pollyanna moment???
Goodbyes lead to hellos :)

is it just me or is Chris Harrison struggling with this one??
are they gonna make it??? for reals gonna make it.....??????

I Love linky parties. They give me ideas of what to write about. Plus I feel like I get to be in the cool kids club haha. And there is the added bonus of possible look-in readers that could turn into followers :) And who wouldn't want that.
Last week I "talked" about a song.
This week I find myself again talking about a song.
Its another one that is very near and dear to my heart...and has honestly gotten me through many of the ups and downs my career has brought me the past 5 years.
So lets rewind as I tell you the story.
Picture me....a young college freshman at BYU
this should help haha
I came to BYU not only for the overall good education and the fun social scene-but also for its nursing school. It had a high reputation.
So I am sitting in a pre-nurse meeting about applying for the program and all that blah blah blah administrative stuff.
And one of the speakers is talking about the program...its mission, its goals, its philosophy.
Being a church school, it of course had a very spiritual twist.
So what was the motto you ask?
"I would learn the healer's art"
Recognize it? It is a line from this song:
Savior, may I learn to love thee, Walk the path that thou hast shown,
Pause to help and lift another, Finding strength beyond my own.
Savior, may I learn to love thee-Lord, I would follow thee.
Who am I to judge another When I walk imperfectly?
In the quiet heart is hidden Sorrow that the eye can't see.
Who am I to judge another? Lord, I would follow thee.
I would be my brother's keeper; I would learn the healer's art.
To the wounded and the weary I would show a gentle heart.
I would be my brother's keeper-Lord, I would follow thee.
Savior, may I love my brother As I know thou lovest me,
Find in thee my strength, my beacon, For thy servant I would be.
Savior, may I love my brother-Lord, I would follow thee.
The whole song is essential for nursing. But the third verse has been my favorite ever since.
It got me through anatomy, bio-organic chemistry, physiology and nutrition (which was not hard just positively TERRIBLE!)
When a year later I found out I was not accepted into the BYU nursing program...this song got me through the crushing disappointment. It didn't matter what BYU said....I was going to be a nurse anyway.
When I went through the stress of applying for accelerated programs, this was the song in my mind as I wrote essays and wrote my name on so many forms, I'm pretty sure I may have made a deal with the devil I didn't know about!
When I was accepted into all 4 programs, and had to choose, the words of my roommate and this song came to mind. "What is your goal? To be a nurse...to hold their hand and give them a smile. Then why does it matter where you go to school if either one will help you do that?"
As I moved to a new place and went through the rollercoaster that is nursing school-it was my rock. The song I listened to when I came home from a horrible clinical day. The song that ran through my head during amazing clinical days
.
And now that I am coming to a close on my education and on my way into the big girl nursing world...it is the song I will take with me.
I hope I never forget that I am there to show a gentle heart to the wounded and the weary.
I am a stand in for their Savior. He has asked me to take care of His children.
So I recently stumbled upon some nursing blogs. NO WAY JOSE!!!! AWESOME POSSUM
Us nurses are a unique breed. A sorority/fraternity of sorts. A group of people who don't understand why people don't think its appropriate to discuss bodily fluids and functions while eating and who can manage to deal with people without the use of restraints-both of the chemical and physical nature.
(I'm just kidding of course...not about us being weird....just our love of restraints)
Every porfession is nutty in its own right. Why on earth would you CHOOSE to run into a burning building? NUTTY!
I think this profession related nuttyness is what bonds nurses to each other. We are all crazy enough to do what we do.
Anyway-point is....I discovered these blogs and I am so happy to be able to read about the other crazy stressful things nurses deal with.
But as I am...I'm finding a lot by nursing students.
And it kind of makes me sad that I have documented my time in nursing school as well as I should have.
So here is one of many. Retrospective of course...but oh well
So here is a quick tutorial on care plans. Its basically a plan of care (inGENIOUS!) a nurse writes to best care for the patient.
It starts out ith a problem. Cause every patient has one. I mean lets be real. No one shows up at a "clean" "quiet" "comfortable" hospital
We are going to be hanging out a lot coming up real soon.
At least I hope we do.
I'm starting the job hunt. Well, I have been working on it for a while, but now we are getting super serious about it.
There have been job applications sent out, contacts made, and feelers put out in:
Boston
Washington DC
Salt Lake City
Utah Valley
Logan
St Louis
Everyday I want a different city. Some days I'm all about Utah..somedays East Coast
When I think about money and paying off loans-its ALL about living at home rent free.
When I think about how potentially stressful this first year will be...home seems like the only option.
When I think about my lil sister in Provo...its all about SLC or Provo to make sure she is taken care of.
But then I think about my baby sister who might get kind of lonely all home alone with the rents.
Being in DC would mean I would get to spend lots of time with my grandparents and 2 of my aunts...and all the uncles and cousins related to that
Being in Utah would mean I would get to see lots of aunts and uncles and cousins too.
Utah might bring a closer connection with old friends. But that isn't necessarily guaranteed.
Boston and Logan and DC would bring a HUGE array of new friends and new experiences
St Louis I could maybe go to the family ward and turn it on its head :) Get a calling in primary or young womens and have a field day!
Boston would be fun and glamorous...an amazing medical scene.
DC would bring me no end of things to do.
St Louis has so many medical opportunities and I could have the potential to grow so much.
Boston I would be very "alone" and cost of living is HEFTY
Provo might not be the best place to go back to--it was AMAZING while I was there but maybe it would be too easy to live in the past there.
St Louis would leave me with a super lame social scene (sorry singles branch....you are just a tinesy bit too weird for me...but I would give you a shot I suppose)
See what I mean? There are SOOO many reasons for and against every place!
But really it is going to come down to who offers me a job. But what if the hands of fate go in my favor and I get more than one offer.
THEN WHAT???
Guess we will cross that bridge when we get there.
PS...
So bloggy buddies--with which city does your allegiance lie??
Its not so much that I can't get it out of my head, more that I really really like it.
So I have been listening to it over and over and over....and over...and over.
I don't know-I guess it speaks to me.
And my past.
I think once nursing school is done I'm going to start up my TWBMH series again.
Stay tuned :)
And for now-enjoy.
You ever wanted something/someone more than the other person did?
Its weird and crazy. Its been a long 15 months!
We've done so much together!
We have cared for patients who have passed on.
We have cared for patients as young as 2 hours old and others over 100.
We have been covered in random foreign substances of unknown origins.
In you I have been asked by a 84 year old...and a 4 year old...to be their girlfriend
With you I have felt crummy and scattered and stressed and crazy.
And at the same time I have felt fulfilled, proud, elated and moved.
Its been a crazy ride!!!!
Now I have to decide-do I burn you?
Or....do I frame you so that I never forget?
So that I never forget the patients who touched me.
The patients who changed my life.
The nurses who taught me how to be the nurse I am today
The fact that people are going to trust me to not wear these scrubs anymore FREAKS me out just a little.
But its exciting too!
Finally I'll get scrubs in fun pretty colors. Scrubs that really fit. Scrubs with more POCKETS!!! (this nurse can NEVER have enough pockets)
Cookie making....poster making....thank you card writing
Prepping for my last ninja scrubs day
Somedays you just gotta shake it out.
Today is that for me.
Crazy stuff is flying at me in all directions.
And my current emotionally unstable condition is not quite prepared to cope with it very well.
In the nursing world we would for sure give me a diagnosis of ineffective coping skills
Cause the sometimes the devil gets on your back
Every demon wants his pound of flesh
So just shake them off!!!!!
(I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Smash version! Enjoy yourself!)
Alright-this post is going to be full of a lot of random thoughts.
Lets hope they are organized is some semblance of logic so they can be understood.
Some time ago I was trying to make some decisions about the circle of friends I was going to put myself in.
I had been hanging out with one group for several months...but it was beginning to wear on me.
They were not exactly the most uplifting crowd.
I wanted to leave. But we all know that leaving a group of friends is NEVER easy.
Being who I am, I of course, called my parents for their advice.
My dad gave me some advice that still sticks with me today. He said "Stephanie, by their fruits ye shall know them" (haha my dad would quote scripture when giving me advice! LOVE LOVE)
So I thought about their "fruits" What had they done, what had they created.
In this case I had a perfect comparison, as I also had a second group of friends.
I thought of various interactions I had had with each group.
The more I thought about it, the more striking the difference became.
Now, of course, I have to throw in these observations are my PERCEPTIONS. Perceptions and intent are two very different things. (I should prolly do a post about that sometime hahaha)
The fruits of one: building me up, letting me know they appreciated and loved me, supporting me in everything I did, giving me a shoulder to cry on, an ear to vent to, and a hand to hold. They were there for me whether I was happy or sad. They didn't care which, they just wanted to be with me.
The fruits of the other: tearing me down, making me feel unloved and unwanted, constant badgering and teasing and rarely supportive. And I felt like I could only be one person around them-happy go-lucky and all-put-together.
It wasn't that the one group was better than the other (well maybe they were haha)
But it was mostly that one group was better for me.
One group tried to show their apparent affection through seemingly harmless teasing and badgering.
The other said "do what you do".
So who do you think I perceived more love from????
So moral of the story. By your fruits people will come to know you. What you create is more important than individual actions. But added up actions is what you create.
So be aware of what your actions are creating.
And make it good.
It might not be easy-and I certainly could work on this too.
So lets do it together ok??
The various theories and reasons that have been thrown out for why we have dreams an what they mean are just crazy!
Sometimes I feel like my dreams match what has happened that day. Or what I have been thinking about that day.
But no matter what they are about...they are strange.
Either for their content...the feelings they invoke...or most common...their logic!
I'm used to weird dreams...people from church/choir showing up at school. Being at home...but its not my home.
But lately I have had more and more weird dreams.
Last night took the cake though.
I have this friend....he is the BESTEST!
We met my freshman year and got reconnected my junior year (out at the Y)
The summer before my senior year is when we got really close.
We never had a romantic relationship at all, but he has always been there for me. Has always built me up--never pulled me down. He is always there to make me smile when I most need it.
We haven't talked in a couple months... Not since I called him on his birthday earlier this year.
So why is he showing up in my dreams??
Why am I showing up on his doorstep, surprising him cause I am back in town?
And suddenly I am in this HUGE bear hug...
The showing up is not even the weird part...the hugging is!
I am a hugger...so me hugging is not strange. BUT this kid...Big Brother. NOT a hugger!!!
NOT AT ALL!!!! We have known each other for over 5 years now...and I have prolly gotten like 4 hugs out of him EVER. and they were NEVER big bear hugs that last for a long time
And then all the sudden we are chilling on the couch...catching up and he is confessing his love for me.
And not in the normal romantic chick flick way.
In a very Big Brother way. Matter-of-fact and marginally awkward. We are just sitting there next to each other on the couch...me looking at him...him staring at the wall in front of him.
It wasn't butterfly inducing or the type of dream that makes you wake up grinning.
It was just weird.
And when I woke up...my response was "That was weird" Followed by "That would never happen" Followed by "Where the flippity flip did that come from!!!"
In the medical world, we get concerned when a patient has a high temp...but isn't sweating anymore.
Or when their temp is too low, and they aren't shivering anymore.
These outward signs of an internal problem are actually good signs.
It means the body is attempting to compensate. They tell you the body knows its not the right temperature.... that it is trying to fix the problem on its own.
When I am stressed out...my outward signs--tears. Generalized freaking out. List making...control taking
You can tell I'm stressed.
The past couple of days I have noticed...headaches, insomnia, stomachaches...but no freaking out.
No crying. My body has stopped sweating. I'm not shivering anymore
No bueno
I'm dancing on the edge of a cliff, any second about to fall into the ocean known as mental and emotional breakdown.
You might think I am being dramatic. Over-reacting.
And to that I respond....right....you'll be my first call when I am on a 96-hour psych hold at MUPC and we shall see who was over or under reacting!!!!!!!!
I knew nursing school would be hard. But I didn't realize it would be this bad.
I didn't realize that one wrong move could put me on the brink of failing.
The brink of having to stay another 4 months...take out another loan...do it all again.
After all this work and all this time..all the grey hairs, ulcers, sleepless nights, and tears shed...imploding in the final stretch.
I mean its not for sure, set in stone....just a large possibility.
"Well prevent it" you say. Well I could maybe do that...but there are no guarantees in nursing school
I only have 13 more days. I used to say I could do anything for 13 months (roughly the length of this program)
Lets hope that this phrase remains true for these last 13 days.
Keep your fingers crossed this program is not going to put me in the funny farm!!!!!!
Keep Breathing by Ingrid Michaelson on Grooveshark a slightly dramatic song. But its all I've got to do at this point!!!!!!
Here is a play by play...I'm writing this as I watch! Super duper exciting! (also...spoiler alert if you haven't seen it yet!)
Hmmmm....you want a guy with an edge? Sean DOES NOT have one. hmmm
Crying about Arie hmmmmmm foreshadowing???
Letter to Ricky from Sean Really??? can we say PANDERING!
Dear bad awkward small talk conversations in the swimming pool yuck!
Is she saying she wants to leave? She is leaving!!
Oh she is being a good girl. Not gonna spend the night.
Is she going to do that with them all????
Dear Sean...why aren't you wearing shoes? you should wear shoes
Commercial break...may I say the whole idea of the fantasy suite thing is RIDICULOUS. I do not like it. And not because I am a uptight old-fashioned girl. Its just kinda icky....just saying
All these guys are so sure...they know there is 2 other guys right????
Jef with one F asking the tough questions...way to go! (can you tell I'm a Jef with one F fan)
Is she still hung up on the family thing!!!??? Get over it sister.
He's Mormon and you are not....so they will be a little disappointed no matter what. But they are still going to like you. Cause you are a nice person.
I think he would be a good dad too. He would be fun. And he wants to be a dad...wanting is half the battle
Painting analogy? CHEESY!! The sun is setting but we are starting a new life...SERIOUSLY?? ICK
UGGG...What are you wearing honey!? no way!!!
She pictures him in her life best.
Aww what a gentleman..is she really complaining that he respects her???
EWWWW ANIMALS ON THE GROUND!!!! PETA is gonna have a fit!
Dear Mormon Upbringing--"Bridle these passions" hahaha
No way you can swim with dolphins...in the middle of the ocean...where else would you swim with them
you should prolly talk not just kiss....that ends...no good!
she is going to stay the night with him wont she...she needs to send him home...its only about the physical for them
Oh you are so good with kids?? glad you think so...the jury is still out in my book
Not even going to give him the card
seriously honey you have a pickle on your hands
Arie's got your hormones
Jef has your heart
and Sean has your head
Your weird chopped off straight hair extensions...weird
Sean-Why did you come if you were so cynical about it???
also...you look scraggaly
Jef-Its the eye of London...you sound so fake too..I think you just wrote it and read it though
Guard and protect your heart...really Jef? Also...you look hot tonight!
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO!
No season so far has been this close/hard!
OH MY GOSH JUST DO IT ALREADY!!!!
oh good...Jef with one F is SAFE...deep sign of relief!
Cue dramatic music
my heart is pounding!
AND Arie...CALLED IT!
poor kind sweet sean!
you were just too boring for her.
What a classy guy
What is that horrible tweeting noise. Is that the TV...or outside my window??/?
I love that he is sad without being all blubbery
is she going to walk away from both of them?? hmmmmmm can't wait
Many times this episode.....
ps...love my curly pinterest hair?? LOVE LOVE LOVE
That list had a lot of "Must Bes"
There were a few CANNOTs there at the end. But mostly needs to be was the name of the game.
Its roughly 6 months later (WOW time flies!)
And lots has happened of course (gotta love the most constant thing in life...change)
Now 6 months later I am thinking about the list again.
Its getting longer. UH OH!!!!! (again I say...31 or BUST!)
But this list is not full of needs to.
Its full of can'ts and won'ts
-Can't play violent video games....stay tuned for a future post about this one
-Can't joke around about dangerous things.....maybe around your boys...but not me and not my kids
-Can't make crude/rude/inappropriate jokes
-Won't use forms of bad words...its not about the word-its about the intent. And using the first letter to express the same feelings/meanings that you would have if you had said the real word....NOT OK
-Won't tease me excessively. Teasing is something brothers and dads and uncles do...not husbands
Ok Ok I know I am picky.
But recent experiences have made me realize how important these things are.
I am still not totally sold on the whole marriage thing in the first place.
If you are going to get me on board..he is going to have to be a good guy!
He doesn't have to be perfect (heaven knows I'm not!)
But he has to be perfect for me.
And someone who is perfect for me...is going to fit "THE list"
PS...What is on your "list" more musts or must nots???? anything I should add? Goodness knows my list could stand a few additions hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha ;)
You say "Columbia, MO Current: Light Rain"
I don't know where you are getting your facts....but I've got hot and sunny. You should prolly check on that.
I like this song today tonight.
Not quite sure why it is sticking with me.
Let Go by Frou Frou on Grooveshark Don't you just love the poetry of it...there is beauty in the breakdown. I know its kind of a cliche phrase but I like it. The idea that good can come from bad...blessings in disguise etc. Kinda like it
ps....dont worry im not actually breaking down....just liking the song thats all
no one message/call/text in a panic :)
You are dated the 21st of July.
I give a gallon of milk 5 days post sell by date. Then I get careful. I HATE HATE HATE HATE the taste of sour milk (I mean who really doesn't...but for reals I HAAAAATTTTEEEE it)
Do you know that means I will make pudding on the 25th to finish you before you go bad.
Do you know that I will be eating that pudding while packing up my apartment?
Now before all the people who are older than me get their panties in a twist and their knickers in a knot...
Before ya'll start into stories about when I was your age that I'm sure will end in uphill both ways
And before you lay into me about how old you are...
let me explain why I say this.
I realize age wise..I'm not that old. I'm not even 24 yet.
BUT.....I am a college grad. I'm days away from finishing my 2nd college degree.
I work 20 hours a week at one job and 24-36 at another.
I am in school full time (9 credits of summer classes works out to at least 12-14 in a regular semester).
(And all this can only be done in 5 of the 7 days of the week.)
I go to a family ward. I wake up early..and I never go out during the week cause of it.
I rarely go out on weekends...cause A) I'm exhausted and B) I need to study and C) I don't want to go out cause I would way rather sit on my couch and veg on a Friday night than do ANYTHING that involves clothes other than pjs!
I cook for myself, I shop for myself, I do my own laundry.
I own a car and only mooch a small amount of food from my parents when I go home for visits
I'm lame...I'm old.
My facebook pictures used to be this....
and this
and this
and now???
LAMO!!!!!
Everyone around me is getting married and getting preggers.
They get babies and hubbies...I get DIPLOMAS!
For reals I am pretty sure 75% of the girls younger than me that I grew up with...
MARRIED/ENGAGED/PREGNANT!
In the infamous words of Miss Mallory of Divine Comedy fame..."Another girl who is younger than me who is in love....WOW Thats NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE!!! ;)
Its nutty.
There are some positives to being old. Some money. (but also some debt) Some achievement. Some life experience and knowledge. And of course lots of fun memories
So I am old....I've never liked cats before...but maybe I should try ;) tehehe
One time I had a professor who said we should look in the mirror and pick a body part we hate...and say to ourselves: "I love and embrace my _____"
AND SO.... I love and embrace my oldness hahahahahahaha
