Alright people.  We are having a crisis!  Like major problem people!

So we all know that I have a few obsessions in my life....mainly the Bachelor and the movie/book He's Just Not That Into You.
Like really people-I need a support group.  If you have not seen the movie...see it.  If you have not read the book--read it (just skim the TOC first, cause not all the chapters will necessarily apply)

I am not messing around here people.

NOW...the point of both the book and the movie is to get us ladies to stop obsessing (chronic problem...we all have it, even if we don't admit it!).  To save us time and energy.
To make sure we "don't waste the pretty".

But let me tell you from personal and observed experience.  This is not an easy transition to make.
To go from scheming and plotting...analyzing and quite frankly orchestrating every situation for our benefit to letting them come to us and focusing solely on being "fantastic" and "hot stuff".....NOT EASY!!!!

Its like stopping crack cold turkey (ok exaggeration...but its a HARD habit to break)

When for so long your mind has been occupied by this pattern...it is VERY empty when you are trying to lay off.

So that is where we stand.  My dear friend (who I am speaking about with her permission...you are FANTASTIC hun!) is currently trying to make this transition.

And seriously people she is "jonesin"  Like take the phone away so she doesn't text him, knock her out so she will stop thinking about him serious.

She's a bad relapse just waiting to happen!

But as her friend, I have to wonder....am I giving the right advice?

I'm trying to save her a little heartbreak...but I'm no dummy...its already cracked...and at the rate she is going-it is only going to get worse.

I've always gotten on a soap-box about how empowering this idea is.  And in everyday ordinary practice it is.  When you are just meeting a guy-no connection-it works.  But if you have developed a thing for this guy...hmmmm I just really don't know

"I may do a lot of STUPID *stuff*.  But I am way closer to finding someone then you are"

Does Gigi have a point??

Or is Alex/Greg right in saying that we should just worry about us...and let it happen if it is going to happen?

Honestly-I still think I'm right for pushing her.  Its for her own good.
I hope.........

Exceptions and Rules

Its no secret that this swilly girl is absolutely and totally IN LOVE with this movie.

And let me tell you...it pretty much is the basis of all romantic decisions I make for myself, and all romantic advice I give.

Dramatic yes.  Ridiculous probably.

But lets be real.  It hasn't failed me yet!

EXAMPLE:  I have this friend..... And since I'm a nurse...for HIPAA protection, lets call her..hmmmmm Gigi   ;)

Gigi met this guy about a month ago.  She thought he was cute right off...and she climbed the interest level ladder (see THIS post) the more she got to know him.

They went on a first date.  She had a blast.

And then later with her friend Janine (think me haha) go over the "signs" cause they "love signs!"

Now Janine is pretty good with signs, if she does say so herself.  And all the signs point towards the conclusion that boy is into Gigi.

BUT then date two happens.  And Janine and Gigi begin to wonder.  So they watch the movie and pull out the book...and go over the signs.  And well......get empowered.  Cause just cause he isn't doesn't mean no one ever will

A Lesson In Body Language...Thanks DC

Lets just start with the video...which I preface by saying it is almost 100% accurate and HYSTERICAL.

Following will be my review...so enjoy ;)

ALRIGHT....
Ready for the breakdown??

I'll only go with the falsehoods...cause I could discuss the truths of this ALL DAY LONG!!!!!!

False: Gals DO NOT move their lips subconsciously!!!  Where did you hear that???  Who is spreading such lies!!!!  However, a gal might lick her lips.  That is a fairly universally acceptable signal (but most girls I know don't actually use this one, we just all know about it)

False: The dumb acting.  This isn't actually false, I just want to give a warning.  Don't act too dumb cause then they think you ARE dumb (no way!  I never would have guessed!).  You just want them to help you.  Reaching high things and carrying heavy things tends to be more effective.  Play the weak card.

False: Girls do not push guys they don't like at all.  They avoid touching them at all costs.

False: Diagonal is not that bad.  Usually just means friendship...see previous POST  for more info.
(PS...I've been talking about levels of hugs for YEARS!!!!)

False: The rub???  Does anyone rub???  The pat is no good...that's true...but rubbing seems SUPA weird.

False: A girl who touches your leg is kinda a tramp??  Not true!!  Leg touching is different from leg grabbing.
Grabbing=trampy  Touching=she likes you...cause that doesn't happen on accident!!!

False: Meat, kissing, explosions and sports....just gotta add that sports in.
Also men only think they are simple.  To a girl you are crazy complicated!  As evidenced by snuggling for warmth vs snuggling for well...you know.
But in your defense....we are equally complicated.....probably.  If you ask me we just want to be taken out and treated nice.  What's so complicated about that?? (wink wink)

Anyway...Go forth and...try not to get into relationships you don't realize you are in :D

Maybe I should have done a video response to this one...cause I hope everyone catches my sarcasm..and doesn't think I'm at all serious about this ;)

A Few Thoughts on Inde Movies

I want to start off with a warning to anyone who has not yet seen the movie "Like Crazy" and wants to.
This post may contain spoilers (not specifics but details that could lead a person who knows movies well to a very clear conclusion)

So Indie Movies...Independent Films...Artsy Movies...
Movies that go to select theaters....movies that win awards at film festivals.

I have a very love/hate relationship with these movies.

Often I start out LOVING the movie and then get really disappointed when it ends "wrong"---(or in the case of last night's movie...not even ending, just STOPPING) leaving me stunned and either speechlessly staring at the screen or shouting things like "NO!  SERIOUSLY?  NO!"

(Side note-my family always knows when I am watching an indie movie....cause there is lots of yelling at the TV! hahaha)

I don't mind a lot of staring, lots of good unknown alternative music, little talking, artsy lighting and shots.
In fact I rather appreciate those.  I appreciate the real conflict.  Not the contrived conflicts of fake engagements and ruined proms.

But I miss the "perfect" endings.  The happily ever afters.  Maybe, despite their lack of realism they give me hope that maybe unrealistic happy endings could be possible.

But indie movies bring me back to reality.

The guy doesn't always get the girl.
The girl doesn't always forgive the guy for being dumb (and vise versa)
People get sick.  People die.  People grow apart.  People fight and don't make up.

Depressing right?  But then again...relatable.

And not only that but romantic.  Not the hearts and roses romantic.
But the standing in the rain, sitting on the roof on a summer night romantic. (see future post on this idea :) )

So like I said...love/hate.

What do you think??
Yay or nay for indie movies??
What are your faves??
I always take suggestions :)
